Video Les Beaux Jours was founded in 1989. The organisation mainly contributes towards the spreading of audio-visual creativity, documentary films, and the new forms of expression of animation films. It organises shows and exhibitions aimed at making the public sensitive to image language. In the year 2000, five hundred films in about twenty different languages were watched in a total of about seven hundred shows. This same arrangement also witnessed the participation of about fifty guests comprising of authors, critics, directors and teachers.
From the time the Maison de l'Image was inaugurated, and successively furnished with a small projection room, a web access point and a production plant, Video Les Beaux Jours has assumed the role of "Regional Centre for Education and Formation in Film Criticism, and in Audio-visual and Diversified Media Language." This same role was officially recognised by the Ministry of Culture and Communication in the autumn of the year 2000.
Previously, Video Les Beaux Jours had already taken part, in collaboration with the city of Strasbourg, in an important project entitled, "Mémorial/Historial d'Alsace-Moselle de la guerre et de la réconciliation". The organisation has therefore adhered to MEMORY as a result of its interest both in historical themes and in the use of diversified media language. This project, in fact, proposes to make use of a communication instrument represented by an integration between traditional audio-visual applications and the web.
