S.M.ART - Art Media is a Greek company with head offices in Athens. Right from its foundation, this group has always had preference for the most innovative choices, exploring new resources in the fields of film production, cultural management and communication strategies. In a particular way, S.M.ART - Art Media is specialised in the area connected with the organisation and production of short and long footage films, with cultural and historical documentaries, with cultural management services, and with the development and organisation of public communication.
"We believe MEMORY to be an important project. It offers us the opportunity to collaborate with people all over Europe and to explore our common history, our historical legacy. It also enables us to compare how different people, that is to say people belonging to different cultural backgrounds, managed to cope with the terrible years of the Second World War.
In the course of the research work that we carried out in order to realise our part of the project, we discovered that a good number of people who had always lived in silence around us really had incredible stories to tell. Such stories could either be tragic or comical, or sometimes the two things together. Indeed, we felt so much privileged and honoured that they should have accepted to narrate their experiences to us. Through their memories, the personal perception of our own existence had changed: it had been able to link itself to our past!
Our hope, therefore, is that the same thing would happen to those who will watch this video, and that this would ultimately help to build a better comprehension capacity and a greater aptitude for tolerance among people".
